Elissa Sursara, the real Hannah Montana

According to Brazilian publications, South America’s long haired, ocean-eyed celebrity, 20-year-old Elissa Sursara (who has caused a stir after reportedly stepping down from two major film and television deals to spend time with her sick father during his recovery from a long-term illness) is the real life Hannah Montana! At least, sort of.

The Brazilian actress and one time swimwear/surfwear model, who alongside Adriana Lima, Izabel Goulhart and Gisele Bundchen, is one of the most recognizable faces in her native Brazil and throughout South America for her modeling and acting career, is reportedly “loving the privacy” offered to her by her new Australian home. According to published sources, Sursara has spent almost two years living in the country full-time with her ill father.

Says her rep, “Elissa enjoys the privacy offered to her in Australia as her fame is not as intense here. Part of Elissa’s public interest in Brazil is that she is quite reserved, and that makes her unintentionally mysterious. She loves her home in Brazil and is greatful of her fan base in South America, but she also likes the anonymity she experiences in Australia right now.”

Right now is right. According to Elissa’s camp, Australian and US entertainment offers have been “pouring in” since the actress re-located. Obviously word of her insane popularity in Brazil has spread. When prompted for comment by a Brazilian magazine on the hype, her rep replied, “Elissa is taking the time to seriously evaluate her life and her next step. A lot of child stars and young celebrities step away for a moment to see the big picture. While she is using this time to consider her future, there is no doubt that Elissa will return to the entertainment industry, the only question is when.”

Most recently, Elissa is the center of “lesbian” rumors that cloud her friendship with Aussie star Isabel Lucas.
