Doherty arrested after V festival gets released without charge

Pete Doherty has gone and done it again. No he didn’t get back with Kate. Instead he got arrested for possession after  the V Festival. The story goes a little like this:

Pete was arrested early this morning (Aug. 20) on suspicion of drugs possession, a police source said. Doherty, 28, was arrested with a man and a woman after being stopped in a car in Tower Hamlets in east London.

He’d just been performing with Babyshambles and the female with them is suspected to be his model ‘friend’ whom he picked up shortly before attending the festival.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “At 2:30 am officers in Tower Hamlets arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of possessing drugs.”

This isn’t the first time he’s had problems with the law. In fact it was supposed to be his last attempt at getting clean. Which doesn’t like he was doing very well.

But a technicality got him let off it seems.  Technicality is all about British law. And how someone thats in breach of probation has to brought before a judge within 24 hours. The officers knew that and Pete knew that.

SO when they did finally get him before a judge. This all the judge had to say:

“This court has no jurisdiction to deal with this matter anymore,” prosecutor Anjulika Vatish said at West London Magistrates Court.

”As you know, and the police ought to know, anyone arrested for breach of bail must be brought before the court and dealt with within 24 hours. Clearly, that has not happened on this occasion,” the judge said.

This of course made Pete a very happy man. Which led to him showing his happiness by throwing up the V sign for victory.

So whether he broke the law or not. It doesn’t really matter now. The police were incompetent  and didn’t do their job right. Lucky for the Babyshambles front man really.
