Celebrity trash is in. Celebrity cars are out. Thats exactly how it looks when Paris’ trash was sold on eBay recently for more than it cost.
But cars associated with the the stars and films just don’t have the selling power.
First we have the car that Britney attacked earlier this year. It was listed on eBay and reached $26,100 in bids. The reserve wasn’t met so the photographer still has the car.
Then we have two vehicles that actually went to auction. Profiles in History were responsible for selling the cars. One of which was the the Sopranos SUV and the other was Tom Cruises Days of Thunder stock car. Both cars went unsold but were expected to reach between $30,000 and $50,000 for the sopranos SUV. And the Days of Thunder Stock car failed to reach $40,000. Which means both automobiles went unsold.
Another non starter in terms of the auction was an original General Lee car from the TV show.
Profiles In History spokesman Brian Chanes says,
“We have no explanation. We’ve sold the Knight Rider car here and (TV detective) Magnum’s Ferrari but these vehicles didn’t sell. At present there’s no word as to whether we’ll attempt to sell them at a later auction.”
It seems people are more likely to spend their cash on trash then on something thats actually quite useful. Like a car. Is that really what the world is coming to?
If it is. Then i ain’t throwing anything else out again. Instead i’ll just list it on eBay.
