Nicole Richie escapes trial again

ITV news has reported that the pregnant Simple Life reality star Nicole Richie, has once again avoided trial for driving under the influence.

Nicole’s rather clever legal team convinced the Los Angeles Court not to carry on with the proceedings for that day as a witness was unavailable.

Jane Robinson, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said:

“The trial will not happen (today) Richie’s attorney filed a motion… stating that their key witness, a drug expert, was unavailable for trial.”

Nicole’s father singer Lionel Richie says that celebrities these days are under far too much scrutiny. Lionel Richie said:

“She keeps apologizing to me, I told her, ‘You’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing to your father at this age.’”

“There’s just so much information out there right now—MySpace, cell phones, the Internet. If we had had all that when The Commodores were around, God only knows what my mother and father would have seen.”

Ahhh now that explains a-lot, we shouldn’t look too closely at celebrities, then they wouldn’t be in so much trouble, right Lionel?
