Stella McCartney fronts online anti-fur campaign

English fashion designer Stella McCartney is set to front an anti-fur protest next week on the online fantasy complex called Second Life.

The animal rights group ‘People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ stated last week that Stella’s 7 day anti-fur protest starts the 12th July 07 in the computer generated universe, which will have stables, Linda McCartney veggie burgers and picnic tables.

Stella said: “Sometimes it’s nice to have a bit of humor on serious subjects.”

People visiting SecondLife.com will be able to dress their digital selves in T-Shirts with the slogan: “I’d Rather Be Pixelated Than Wear Fur.”

A competition will also be held for visitors to think up a different slogan for PETA’s famous line, “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur.”  The winner will win various prizes which will include fashion tickets to Stella McCartney’s fashion show in Paris later in the year.

Players of SecondLife, which are called residents, can interact with each other in the virtual world. They can do pretty much anything that people can in real life, including buying and selling property, joining in with groups, individual activities, and socialising.
