Eminem settles over cancelled gig legal battle

8 mile rapper Eminem was in struggles over a legal row with UK promoter MCD but has now been cancelled after a settlement was reached. The promoters were suing the rap star for compensation in the region of £1 million for failure to attend a gig in Slane castle, reports the Independent.ie

MCD claimed that Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers had entered into an insurance contract when he signed up for his ‘Anger Management’ European Tour which held the rapper liable for costs if he cancelled or relocated the tour.  The ‘Anger Management’ tour was due to begin the 1st September 2005 in Germany.  Eminem cancelled due to exhaustion 18th August 2005. Because of the cancellation, MCD incurred losses of over £2 million.

As MCD’s Denis Desmond maintained to the media that Eminem’s cancellation of the tour was due to illness, “which entirely prevented him from appearing” and, accordingly, the rap star’s companies were required to indemnify MCD an undisclosed amount.
