Pop princess Kylie Minogue will be the first woman ever to receive the Music Industry Trusts’ award in its 16 year history.
The highly prestigious award is given out annually to performers who have made a considerable contribution to the British musical industry.
A beaming Kylie said “It is an incredible honour to be the recipient of this year’s award and I am truly thrilled to be recognised in this way. As well as being a fantastic evening, this award ceremony also raises much needed funds for the Brit Trust and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and it is a pleasure for me to be involved.”
Chairman of the awards committee David Munn had nothing but positive things to say about the pint-sized 38 year-old.”Kylie deserves this award for her success over 20 years, staying at the top in one of the toughest professions and inspiring millions with her grace, dignity and humanity.”
Kylie became a recognised face and name back in the 1980s when she played character Charlene in the Australian TV soap ‘Neighbours’
Kylie will collect her award in a formal ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House 29th October 2007.
